August 6, 1982 – Friday

Dear Diary,
Today Justin had to have his wisdom teeth out, so Robin & I played a D        L            ‘s house.  We had fun. Mom showed us his teeth.  The doctor had sliced them and then got them out that way.  They were grody looking.  (Grody is prep valley talk for sick-or-ugly looking)  I had fried chicken, applesauce & macoroni and cheese for dinner.  I’d better cut down!

This is the beginning of an ongoing theme where I describe what I’ve eaten in great detail and then talk about how fat I am.  I’ve discovered that my mom wasn’t much on green vegetables (hence the chunky children), and that my parents set me on a path for self-loathing pretty early in life.  Don’t worry…I grew out of it.

I love the reference to Valley talk.  I was such a hip child.  Too bad I didn’t know how to spell ‘macaroni’.
